Keep HEDZ Ringin'

A world ruled by music/sound. Based On The Ring Cycle By Richard Wagner Adapted By Rickerby Hinds Readapted By Rickerby Alexander A HIP-HOP OPERA Libretto by Rickerby Hinds

Rickerby Alexander, known professionally as AGE, is a multi-media hip hop  artist, interdisciplinary designer, and creative technologist from Southern California. AGE's artistic journey began at a young age, fueled by a passion for music, visual arts, and performance.

AGE's musical career took flight in 2010 with the release of his debut project, setting the stage for his innovative approach to blending various artistic expressions. In 2015, he released his first creative project, "SASQUAGE." This album featured nine stand-alone vignettes that served as the backdrop to its stage debut, "Legend Of An Invisible Man." Through "SASQUAGE," AGE showcased his love for music, visual imagery, and dance, presenting an exploration of Black manhood and challenging stereotypes through an impressionistic reimagining of the Sasquatch narrative inspired by Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man."

However, AGE's artistic talents extend beyond music. At the age of 15, he made his first appearance on stage as a member of the BuckWorldOne (2006) ensemble, a pioneering Hip-Hop Theater production created by playwright, professor, and AGE’s father Rickerby Hinds. This experience marked the beginning of AGE's journey into the world of performance art, where he blended krump dancing, spoken word, and video projections to captivate audiences across the United States and Canada.

In 2009, AGE's creativity took center stage with "UNCOVERED: A Pageant of Hip-Hop Masters." This innovative production, recognized by performance scholars, reimagined the tableau vivant theatrical form and earned a place in Duke University professor Tommy DeFrantz's book, "Black Performance Theory."

AGE's artistic vision transcends boundaries, encompassing not only music and performance but also fashion and technology. He traveled to China to learn manufacturing that led to the creation of his ILLGOODS brand. And his interest in AI and VR has led to an innovative collaboration which is reimagining his father’s groundbreaking hip-hop opera Keep Hedz Ringin’ as a virtual reality experience.

With a commitment to artistic innovation and social impact, AGE continues to push boundaries, break barriers, and shape the future of artistic expression.
